I look back to January; I posted a Pledge out of anger and frustration with the state of world events and the negative role religion was seeming to play. I had not planned to write more, but the 10 following posts became somehow only a preamble, really, to explain my current worldview and my belief in the supremacy of Compassion (Love).
It's so important to keep life as simple as possible (the irony of my ‘overly complex’ posts is not lost on me!), so to find something that is true in all situations, all circumstances is a precious thing, an Absolute Truth:
Love (Compassion) is Good (Right) in all circumstances.
We can let the philosophers and the religious argue about whether it has Always been an Absolute Truth, or become one by collective human experience, and those who believe that ‘God is Love’ will of course have their clear views on this, but will, nonetheless agree that it is an Absolute Truth.
What matters is Love (Compassion) is, therefore, an arbiter of what is Right and Wrong.
We live in a world screaming out with ever more extreme voices, and the middle ground of calm and tolerance is becoming ever more silent. Meanwhile, the rich and the strong (people and nations) will continue to grab what they can, and the poor and the weak will continue to have to carve out an existence in an ever more fragile World.
We all can feel so helpless in the face of such powers.
But we can at least, all, use our own voices.
And so I will continue to write, In my own small way,
IN PRAISE OF TOLERANCE
Apologies
To those who support Love (Compassion), but are not sure if it is an ‘Absolute Truth’ and therefore Right in all circumstances. If you can think of any situations where it is not, please DM me and we can discuss it together!
Bear with me! Jonathan x
